"I installed today, can I turn auto-replies on tomorrow?"
The short answer is no. Flipping to auto mode before you've validated the agent tone in your specific group chat means the first awkward reply hits five members at once.
This post is a day-by-day checklist that rolls out automation gradually. About 30 minutes of work per day, and by end of week your operator voice is stable in the agent and replying automatically across 1 to 3 group chats.
Pre-flight, 5 minutes before Day 1
- Laptop spec: macOS Apple Silicon or Windows 10/11. RAM 8GB or more recommended.
- Telegram API credentials: Go to my.telegram.org, register a new application, note the "id" and "hash".
7-day progression curve
SVG: tone-fit curve + mode transitions
Blue curve = ratio of drafts that ship as-is (queue [Approve] without edits). Background bands = operating mode.
Day-by-day cards
All 7 days at a glance
30-60 minutes per day. Mode badge shows the operating stage.
Day 1, install + account registration (30 min)
Goal: Replyer running on your laptop with one Telegram account logged in.
- Download Replyer, pick the build matching your OS
- First launch shows the Wizard
- Enter api_id, api_hash, phone, receive SMS verification code
- Account registered, sidebar [Accounts] page shows your username
- Do NOT press [Start] at this point
Day 2, one agent + one group chat mapping (30 min)
- Pick the smallest, friendliest group chat you operate
- [Agents] page, choose the template closest to that chat's vibe
- Agent editor, Basic tab, leave the system prompt as-is
- Account tab, pick the account you registered in Day 1
- [Rooms] page, toggle the agent column ON for that group chat
- Hit [Start] in review mode (not auto mode)
Days 3 to 5, review mode + tone iteration (30 to 60 min daily)
Goal: Tune the agent's system prompt until 95% of drafts can ship as-is.
- Review drafts in the [Queue] page
- Tone off? Refine system prompt (apply 5 principles from the agent prompt guide)
- Awkward word leaking? Add to the Meta tab's hard-banned phrase list
- Length wrong? Adjust max length in the Response behavior tab
- Off emoji habit? Pin emoji frequency in the system prompt
Day 6, add agents + diversify routing (30 to 60 min)
- Analyze message patterns ([Logs] page, view 7-day history)
- Identify 2 to 3 frequent topics
- Map a agent per topic with triggers / priority / active hours
Day 7, expand to 2 to 3 group chats (30 to 60 min)
- Pick 1 to 2 chats with similar vibe and map the same agent
- Per-chat fine-tuning of active hours / hourly cap
- [Queue] page lets you review drafts across all chats together
- [Activity] page shows hourly / daily fired-message stats
Week 2 onward, signals to enable auto mode
5 readiness signals (gauge bars)
All gauges must reach green before flipping auto mode. Progressive achievement.
When enabling auto mode:
- Start with a 15 to 30 second countdown (so you have time to [Cancel])
- Reduce to 5 to 10 seconds as confidence builds
- Check the [Activity] page daily for fired messages
Pitfalls, common rollout mistakes in week 1
| Pitfall | Result | Prevention |
|---|---|---|
| Press [Start] on Day 1 and walk away | Queue piles up with no agent | Wait until Day 2 agent mapping |
| Auto mode on Day 3 with untuned agent | Awkward replies hit members | Auto mode is Week 2+ only |
| Map 5 chats on Day 1 | Hard to track which chat / agent is misbehaving | One chat through Day 5 |
| Hourly cap above 30 | Members notice "they're glued to chat" | 8 to 12 recommended |
| Default system prompt unchanged | Chatbot phrases leak | Tune Days 3 to 5 |
After week 1, scaling up
- Expand to 5 to 10 chats: same agent, just additional room mappings
- Different chat vibes: spin up a separate agent, route by topic
- Multiple Telegram accounts: register a second account, separate via agent's Account tab
- Backup / restore / move to another PC: zip backup from [Backup] page, or share-code per agent / account
Five-minute setup
Download Replyer and start Day 1. The 11 built-in agent templates let you pick one matching your chat's vibe immediately on Day 2.
